I’ve been told it’s a basket, some marbles (winking in and out of sight), a sort of clock work bird, photo albums, as well as a network of wires, like in a computer.

Great stuff. One question that I do have is in the second line, did you consider italicizing “it” instead of “is”? I think it is effective as it is, but perhaps italicizing “it” would put more of an emphasis on it, as you do build on it later in the piece. Then again, there might be something that I’m missing.
